Hi Folks,

I had today the 'Check Engine' Light on and I want to do a lot of the service on the vehicle at my own.
The only problem is that when there is an error code in the computer, I can't read it out.

So I was searching for an OBDII scanner.

Does anyone of you has such a device?
Does it works properly?

I found these:

Scanner 1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DODGE-OBD-2-OBD-II-CODE-READER-SCAN-TOOL-%)

Scanner U380 (http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200094333672&fromMakeTrack=true)

And finally:

Scanner U580 (http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200087900488&fromMakeTrack=true)

The last one is my favourit; the vehicle coverage mentions Chrysler '96 - current year OBD-II

Please can you give me some advice?

Thanks!

Grtz,

Xavier

Do they key trick to get the code. Turn on (no crank), off, on, off, on and wait. The codes should display in your digital odometer.

Wow!

I will try this trick :)

Is there also such a trick to cancel or delete these errors and to reset the CE light?

Thanks!

I've been out of the business for several years, but I think with OBD-II you must use the scanner to clear codes. OBD-I you could just disconnect the battery to clear the codes.

I've got a 5.2 B1500 and I disconnect the battery for at least an hour. Seems to work for me.

Hi,

I tried it, but I don't get any result...
Does this sequence has to be made quick or do you have to wait some seconds each step?

1. Turn on, don't wait, turn off
2. Turn on, don't wait, turn off
3. Turn on, don't wait, turn off
4. Turn on and wait and watch the odometer/trip meter LED display. You should see a code (or codes) displayed there, one at a time. Then you will get a 'done' display. That means that all codes have been displayed.

You may want to come back to the forums to get help with the codes and explanations of each.
