distributor vacuum port

I am putting a new intake an carb on my 73 w200 witha a 318 engine . I was wondering if the vacuum advanced is a timed vacuum or a full vacuum ? I need to know port on the carb to plug the line into . Thanks

There will be one port (2 bbl OR 4 bbl) that will only have vacuum to it when the throttle is just opening or full open. In other words, Idle = NO vacuum... slightly open or full open = Vacuum.... That's the one you want the dist connected to.

It'll probably (Generically) be on the right hand side (Passenger) of the carb...
