Anyone know where to get the hood letters particularly the " O " for a 76 D-100. My dad had them removed a while ago and I have been trying to find the letters to put back on and I can't locate the O. I have seen some posted on Ebay but they don't look like mine so I posted a picture of what mine look like. Any help or info on where to get the O would be greatly appreciated.

I have looked at J yards with no luck, either the dodge trucks they do have are not what I need or if I can find a year of truck close to mine they are different. Anyone know what years they had this style of the hood lettering on so I know what year to look for? Also forgot to mention my hood lettering is stick on, it doesn't have the mounting tabs that go through the hood.

72 - ?

Yes, ours are stick ons that attach with an adhesive to the hood.

Anyone also have pictures of where (the spacing and position) these letters are supposed to go on the hood front?

heck i got the same problem sept i need all of the letters, you can still see the places where they were. Is there any good way to restore these to a factory finish. the powerwagon lettering on top of the hood is a little rusted up and it would spoil the whole truck to get the rest looking good and have those things still looking crumy

This is as good as I can get it:

Looks like the letters (or what used to be of them) line up with the grille on a 72.

Thanks NeDodgeguy! Now if I can find the " O " I know where the letters are supposed to go. I will take a look at the yards around here and if I find any letters I will grab them for you if you still need the " O " & " E "

PS anyone know where to get the dodge decal for the tailgate?

If you have a REAL printing shop/business ("Real" as in not a place like 'Kinko's') they can make you one.

I checked into this as this summer, (If my kids stop costing me so much $$) as I want to get the bodywork on mine done. This means sanding the 'Dodge' sticker off the tailgate, which I'll want to replace.
Talked to the guy at the 'real' printing shop and he said if I could take a picture of it, or find one on the net, to use a program like Photoshop to cut and paste just the lettering and print that out or save it to floppy disc and bring that in, along with the dimensions you want (They can make it any size you want) and they can make them.
Best part (And maybe because I'm friends with the guy) is it's only gonna cost me $30.00....

You also might want to try this place..

Dodge tailgate decals in the proper font are on sale on e-bay all the time. They aren't the exact size, but they're close. I paid $12 for mine, and it's about a half-inch shorter than the original. Quality is as good as the factory original.

If you can find the part number of your missing chrome letters, you can find a lot of NOS parts like that on: www.collectorsautosupply.com

Thanks GHS! I have seen them on Ebay I actually bid on one of them and won, but I wasn't exactly sure if it was just like the original one used to be. Around my parts (AZ) I haven't seen to many 76 D-100 on the road and the ones that you may see in the junk yards (which are not usually close to my year) are pretty much stripped.

Anyone know (or where to find) the part numbers of the chrome letters that go on the hood for a 76 d-100?

thanks again,
PD

I just checked the inventory on www.collectorsautosupply.com and they show they have NOS available, but don't give a price.

I've dealt with them in the past and they are nice folks, but their stuff is expensive.

Thank you very much this at least gets me the numbers I need and I know where I can still get NOS letters.

Thanks again,

Man I thought I'd scored for you yesterday while at the 'pick-a-part'... They had 3 72's sitting there.... But all the emblems had already been removed.

I seem to notice that with our old Dodges, at the junkyards, the very first things to go are:
Enblems
Grilles
Inst clusters

I'm gonna start grabbing this stuff... Somebody must be making some $$$ on ebay or somthing.. ;)

bherder, if you ever see any Adventurer Sport emblems, please let me know. We have all of ours, but you never "know" if one will randomly fall off. The two from the door panels luckily are tucked into our seat cover. Dad said those fell off like in 75... haha.

Yep same here every truck for my year (when I can find them here in AZ J yards) are pretty much stripped, I had one truck a 72 that the city must have converted (rear section) into a utility truck it had everything, grille, inner fenders ect... they wanted 12.00 for the inner fenders 12.00! I got there at closing I told them I would come back the next day but they crushed it that morning. Out here there are some 80 year models and vans, I could get door handles by the bucket full. I know of a place farther north to me acouple or so hours drive that supposed to have like 12 trucks ranging from 72 - 79 and they are not that stripped, I just haven't had the time to take the trip.

MrPD yeah I am. I feel bad as it's naked without those letters.

And if the shipping is that much, yes please find out!

bherder try to find Chevy Luv emblems, especially any 4x4 ones. They are few and far between but bring a pretty penny on eBay.

Damn it I miss my Luv...

After looking for these letters on these hoods, I am sure that not all dodges from the 72 to 77 years had these letters on the hoods. Any thought on this! Not all the hoods I saw had any of the dodge letters on them ar any ideal that they had them to begin with.

DAMN!! Almost scored today... Saw a rig with the 'Adventurer Sport' emblems.. Of course some MORON came along and it looked like he tried to beat them out with a 3 lb. sledge.... Broken in half, both of them.

(Gee, ya think after the idiot broke one in half with a jack-hammer, he thought that the same method would work on the 2nd one??)

I must be a rarity... I don't destroy a whole bunch of parts that someone else might desperatly need, in order to make it easy to get to the one little doo-hickey I want...

I can't tell ya, for instance, how many (Formally) 'PRIMO' dashes I've seen shatterd with big tin-snip cuts in them, so some idiot could get a switch...

I'm gonna start buying stuff I don't even need, because of all the idgits who just destroy stuff for no good reason....
