Hey all. I have bnen doing body work too my slider over the winter months, preparing it to be gullwinged. I now have it hanging on the van. I still have to sure up, and clean up the welds. Also I have to finish the bodywork on the lower section, cap off the top, and mount the hinges. Here are ap couple pics of the upper section hanging on van.

I believe it's a slider conversion since it has only one big window.
The barn-doors are have a window in each.
The trick is, to get a locking latch on the bottom middle just like the barn-door types. This will keep it secure.
It's a neat idea, but a pain if in a parking lot or in tight places.

I'm not concerned about parking lots. There won't be any seats back there anyways. Yes Ram Man, that is the original slider from the van. I'm looking into using the factory rear latch, and mabe something similar in the front. I still have to mount the lower section, and work out the latches for it, but I have some ideas.

Here are some updated pics. with the door open, to what will be it's max opening height. I am however having issues with the lower section, and I'm in the market again, for a better condition, slider, to hang in this loaction.

Brad, do yourself a favor and mount some small red lights into the inside jams of the top half out at the corners. that door looks about eye height for the average 6 footer.

See Glen (Glass Eagle) at Vanfest. He has them on his gull wing.

Im thinking of something a little different, just not sure what yet.
Ram Man, I will probably use 2 struts that hold up the rear door on one of my minivans. That way I will also have the pins, for the struts.
Oh, by the way Carl, I no longer need the extension for the slider. I will bring it to Van Fest, unless you need it sooner.
Also, I'm still in the market for a cleaner rust free slider, to install here.
Last thing, Carl, is it possible to grind out the inner track, from the slider?? I see what I have to do to remove the outer track, but the iner is going to interfere with the new headliner. Thanks for your suggestions.

Ya, you can grind the spot welds off and the track should come right out. Hey Ram Man, you still looking for a slider extension? The price is right :D

So that will work on the inner track aswell. I have to look at it again, but later, as I'm off to work now.

Its been many years since I did one but I believe thats what we did. Get a small cutoff wheel on an air dumore.

you should split it in half make the bottom half like a set of steps or like a ramp so you can get in through that door through tight spots it would take a bit of working but i can see it or make it so the bottom half slides underneath the van and the window half you could do like a hatch back
