Well after a visit from my case worker yesterday I am forced to sell my truck.
They refuse to put a wheelchair lift on my truck saying it's too old.I placed a ad in the classified forum here if anyone is interested.

You have to use a wheelchair I take it?Yeah it's stupid My truck,Both my cars are too old to have a carrier put on them.in NC anything over 100,000 miles exceeds mechanical limits. Anything over 5 years old is too old cause it has a chance of having more than 100,000 miles. Yes I have to I can only walk very short distances without losing my breath. So, OTR.... What's to keep you from saying "I'm NOT selling my truck!... I'm handicapped and I'm in NEED. "???
See, THIS is the kind of stuff that BURNS MY AZZ!! They (As in the FEDS) have spent $,$$$,$$$ on travel-trailers for 'Katrina-Refugees' that are SITTING THERE ROTTING in corn-fields and swamps, but they CAN'T buy you a rig to get around in??? They have to 'approve' what you choose to drive in?? WTF is WRONG with this picture???

The case worker kept saying it has to be 5 years or newer so I screwed it doesn't meet their Stupid Standards. I can't buy a Lift they are too expensive so I'm suppose to go into debt of $600-700 a month including the extra insurance in case something happens to the lift. Man you do not need to be treat with this load of bullshit.Forgive my ignorance but can't you get a metal frame built in the cab, put in a tilt sterring wheel column and have 2 500 lb accurators or winch or a hank crank lift and be able to slide under the cab or is this a pipedream. Damn... you sure as hell don't deserve this and no does anybody else.

I have a Powerchair it's so heavy my 2 sons can't pick it up so it takes a very strong lift to pick it up.It also won't fit in the cab. My powerchair is designed to carry over 350lbs everything is extreme duty.

How far can you walk OTR? Can't you have a swivle bucket seat like those in john deere tractors that can move and face the door so you can just sit in? like so:
I can walk 20-30 feet no problem before I run out of breath. The problem is a Wheelchair Carrier is extremely expensive.

I have my wife's wheel chair carrier that I built her 4 years ago. Her power chair weighs more than me & my Brother can lift together (of course we is only "OLD" tired cowboys), and we carried it on this platform over many a road, inc. off road. It slides into the trailer hitch receiver on the back of my jeep liberty. It has two ramps, and she would get off and I would drive it on and button it down. It isn't a lift (they are expensive & we can't afford one), but it sure has worked good.
You are welcome to it FREE of charge, ( I can build her another one ) if I can afford to ship it to you.... :)
PS- I will post pic's of it in the morning if you are interested
PPSS- BTW It folds up flat against the tailgate like one of those luggage carries as well

Sorry to hear that reb... But I guess I don't understand..
The case worker wants you to go & finance a new vehicle so they can put a free lift on it???
What kinda $$$ are we talking about here??
If thats the case couldn't you just finance the lift & be money ahead???
that way, as your taking off in your 73 with your newly financed lift... You can flip your caseworker the finger in your new rear views!!!! :D

The lifts start at $3,000 and up so one I need would be a couple of thousand more. So since I have to sell the truck,I will get another Ram and have them add a few things just for making me sell my truck.

It takes 5yrs and 100,000 miles to work the bugs out and get the engine broken-in on most vehicles.
You can roll back miles (they didn't have the 7th digit so it could be agrued). It's a little harder to roll back time though.. 5years seems highly restrictive.

This truck might work if I can get them to push harder. They would not consider my 73 even though the engine, trans, rear, and most of the interior had been rebuilt or redone.Basically it didn't matter that it is almost in the same shape as a newer one.
