Hi,

I have allready a few questions for you guys... maybe I'll split them up on two threads so it can be easy for other members which have similar probs with their car to find back the items.

Normally on all US cars there are audible signals ( buzzers, chimes, ... ) when the keys are left on the lock or when you turn off the engine and the lights are still on... .
On my Ram Van the chimes don't work :help:
Should this be something that's been done at the hardware, such as cut trough the cable of the chime buzzer or is it something that must be reprogrammed at software level?

Where can I find the chime module?

I like to re-activate that chime sound, it adds the american feeling to the car :ylsuper:

Thanks!

Xavier -

Most of these vans use a buzzer to remind the driver of headlights on or key left in the ignition when the driver door is open. However, if your van came from the factory with the "Vehicle Theft Security System", than it will have a chime tone instead of the buzzer. Both the buzzer itself and the chime module are both located in the exact same spot - under the dash attached to the left side center dash support. You will need to remove the big engine cover to get under there and see it. Depending on what you've got, you will either have the buzzer box which is a small cube shaped module with one electrical plug, or the chime module which is a little bigger and has 2 electrical plugs.

Maybe the previous owner didn't like the noise and simply unpluged them?? Hopefully that's the case and you can fix it for zero cost. :)

I'll scan a few pages from the manual so you can see a little better what you're looking for.

O.K., these two pages are some explaination of the system :

....and these two are pictures of what each looks like. The "frame work" is the left center dash support. Click on each picture to make it larger. Also note that the "Central Timer Module" has several different things which it controls, including the chime tone. Hopefully you don't need to buy that part!

Hi,

Wow, thanks! I've printed it out and I try to take a look this week-end.
Thanks for the scans

I let you know what the results are...

Yo,

I'm a step closer to a solution...

I've checked out the wirings and I found ... eh... I didn't found the buzzer module because it was pulled out...

I need for that reason a new buzzer module.

Does anyone has such a module for sale? http://www.cccforum.be/forum/style_emoticons/default/nixweiss.gif

Or, can someone help me find it on the net? I have allready found some mopar, Dodge parts suppliers but this module isn't listed...
