Ok its for a diesel. Hold on befor you leave. I am sure someone can figure out a way to fit this to a gasser. I am electronically challanged. But there are some pretty smart guys out there. I would like to hook one to idle up my engine when the compressor kicks on. Kinda like a welder machine does when you start welding. It also says it can be used as an rpm source for a power take off unit. What do they mean by that? what is a power take off unit? Can someone post this on TDR there are some smart guys there also. OK Any ideas

power take off is also known as a pto. Alot of little kits like this are used for, on bord air, welders, hydrolic powerd items. mostly used for service truck (mecanic's truck) utility trucks, bucket trucks, digger trucks, ets, also for hydrolic winches. Most of the ones i have seen have all been cable actuated for the increased engin speed. The pto most of the time is a shaft extended off the tranny or transfer case, that drives a hydrolic, air, pump, or HD electric motor. sorry dont know what tdr is.

TDR is an abbriviation for TurboDiesel Register. It is a quarterly publication devoted strictly to Dodge Diesel Rams. They have a website very similar to Dodge Talk.com. If anyone is interested in checking out that website, you can see it by clicking here... TDR (http://www.turbodieselregister.com)
There are a number of products that can control the idle on an engine. The simple ones are just cable actuated, as has been stated. Some of them work with the computer in the truck. I know that on the diesel trucks, the PCM can actually be flashed to idle up when the outside temperature and engine coolant temperatures meet certain parameters.
PTO's are common on service trucks. They are also very common on farm tractors. They are what allow use of the rear deck mowers that are shaft driven. It is a power take off, as it takes its power off the engine. They vary greatly in design.
Hope some of this helps.

Nick,
Are you trying to mod a gas engine to have a higher idle like the diesel kits do??
You could build yourself an adjustable Throttle Position Sensor to do this.
But if you are electronically challenged I would not even recommend the attempt.
