I have a 2002 Dodge Caravan and the speedometer suddenly stopped working. Any ideas on how to fix this? Called the dealer and they said it could be $400-$500 to fix "the panel." I am woman and need some tips before getting hosed on this one. Thanks.

Has the transmission gone into "limp mode"?. If so the yellow engine light will be lit and the transmission will stay in 2nd gear.
If so then it is most likely a bad "output speed sensor" on the transmission, which is not expensive to fix.
If it is not in limp mode you may just need to reset the instrument cluster which you can do in ten seconds yourself.
In any event, you should get the computer scanned for error codes. Many autopart places (autozone, for example) will do so for free.
check on these things before you head to the dealer.
Keep us posted.

Thanks for the advice. I reset the instrument cluster and the speedometer is back to working at full force. So I need to still have someplace read the codes?

Congratulations! Glad you were able to fix it yourself. You easily saved yourself a hefty repair bill from the dealer.
If the yellow engine light is not lit then you don't need to scan for codes. :)
