I have a 1999 Dodge Caravan and I am looking to replace the stereo with a pioneer stereo with gPS mapping ... It says that the stereo can be used to replace a standard Double Din factory stereo. I am not sure what this means. The factory stereo is a standard tape deck ...thats about all i know. Can anyone help me before I spend the money on this pioneer system? I just need to know if the factory stereo is this Double Din they speak of. HELP

your factory stereo is 1.5 DIN
Your average aftermarket deck is a standard DIN Size
Double DIN radios are double the height of a Standard DIN radio
most late 90's GM and all chrysler from mid eighties to 2000 are 1.5 DIN
meaning they are 1.5 times the height of a standard deck
This first picture below is a Standard DIN radio
the second is a 1.5 DIN radio
The third is a double DIN size (all made by pioneer)
The 1.5 DIN radio shown below is almost a direct replacement for most late 90's chrysler radios
Double DIN radios are simply too big for a caravan
