My 2005 Caravan has been acting up for a while now, Passenger window regulator acting up, multiple engine misfire, recall bulletin on brake line routing. My wife has called the dealership where we bought it several times over the last couple months to bring it in to check it out. She' was told that they are extremely busy and she would have to bring it and leave it for possibly an extended period until they could get to it. Also they would not write her a service ticket until she left it with them. Dealers in neighboring cities pretty much told us the same thing. Anyway we finally get it in today and guess what? They find several problems and will fix it but get this, the warranty expired on 2/27/2007 so I got to pay for the repairs to the tune of $600.00. That really chaps my butt. The problem has existed for a while and we have made the effort to get it attended to. I personally have purchased 6 vehicles from this dealership over the last 12 years. My family has purchased another 5. My family has been buying Chrysler vehicles since before WWII. I also have a need to purchase 2 more vehicles in the next year. I hate to say it but looks like my relationship with Chrysler may be at an end. :VHOT:

Not to be an ass, but you should have known when your warranty was going to be up.
If you believe the grass is greener with other makes then I guess that is your perogotive.
I think it is an issue with your dealer. You should talk to someone higher up and tell them that you had called previously. I hope you remember who you talked to previously.

Contact was made several times prior to warranty lapse. The dealer tells me tha ball is in Chrysler's hands. I think the dealer would fix it to keep me happy. Other than the brush off by the service department as far as getting me in to ascertain the problem, I am not unhappy with the dealer. I am unhappy with Chrysler.

Ya, you would think the service manager would "goodwill" the repairs.
Personally I would talk to the general manager, explain the situation. Hopefully he understands and gets with the program.

The dealer that I had bought my '03 Ram Van through had to go to bat for me on peeling paint.
If your dealer is as good as you say they are, they will do the same for you.

Update:
Seems the dealership has gotten some of the work taken care of by Chrysler. The window unit will be done under and extended warranty with a $108.00 deductable. The rest will be taken care of. My battery apparently has a dead cell and with be replaced for $69.00 as opposed to a $110.00 original estimate. While I'm not entirely pleased, I am satisfied. One thing though, seems the PCM needed an upgrade. The Dealer says they charge $85.00 for the software upgrade(no charge for this time). Everything else I own that has a PCM (Microsoft, Evinrude, Yamaha, etc) and requires a patch is done by the manufacturer @ no charge. Anyone else ever run into this?

At least it is better than $600.
I am glad they are woking with you.
I have never had an ECM upgraded or patched.

Glad it worked out for you. My experience with Chrysler is that they are extremely rigid when it comes to their warranty. No gray areas for them. The details aren't important but suffice it to say, this last issue I had cost them any future sales that might have come from us.

Regarding "PCM Software Upgrades", I've got my van in the shop today for a "Service Engine Soon" light, which turned out to be a bad "MAP" sensor, they tell me. They're also recommending a "PCM Software Upgrade", at my expense ($93 U.S.), for better & cleaner performance, and slightly better gas mileage, they say. My service advisor couldn't tell me how much of a mileage improvement, so I couldn't even estimate how long it would take to save the $93 in gas. There's no bulletin on the web or anything, he says. It's part of their own internal service documentation.
Anyone know anything about this or these type of upgrades. I don't know if they've done them in the past for me for free or not, but I don't think I've ever paid for one.
I've had the van for almost 11 years, although the PCM was replaced about four years ago. You'd think they'd have the software right by now.

Every manufacturer has PCM upgrades. It's not just a Chrysler issue. And yes, if it's out of warranty, they ALL charge for the upgrade--even Honda and Toyota---unless the software failure causes the vehicle to violate emissions laws. Then and only then is it free. Yeah, it sucks. But it's another reason to get an extended warranty.
