My wife has a 04 GC and the sliding door (driver side) opens and closes normally with the push of a button.
However try to open it manually with the outside handle and it opens only slightly (will not open completely)
Is this an adjustment thing or do i need to take it to a dealer or mechanic for repair.

Sometimes the clutch in the motor goes bad and wont fully disengage (at least thats what I think happens) It will open normally using the fob or interior buttons but will feel from very stiff to actually stopping part way manually.

my power door got hard to open under warranty and the dealer had to replace the door motor. now it works good again. my rear power liftgate has gotten stuck in the open position twice. and both times the dealer replaced the door latch in the liftgate. the second time it cost $350.00. the first time was around 8 months the second time 2 1/2 yrs later. it might be time for a different model vehicle.

I have'nt the chance to yet, your fix sounds logical and I will be tackleing that job soon.
