Our 97 Grand Caravan instrument cluster has died
No Temp or Gas
Tach and Speedo dead

Here the weird part
Mileage only shows the first 3 digits and the Transmission indicator only shows PRN with the indicator stuck in PARK. We drove it 30 miles like that to get home last night. Van ran great.

When you turn the car off and lock it, the Mileage and Transmission indicators stay lit and won't turn off.
I unhooked the battery last night so it would not drain.

I have read the strings concerning the resoldering of the instrument cluster pins. My question is...
Did you folks also have the indicators that would not turn off??

On our 99, when the cluster screwed up all gages went flat, no spedo, no tack, ABS light came on. Light tap on top of dash got it working, usually. Soldered two pins and it works like new.

As I mentioned above... I left the battery disconnected all night and this morning I pulled the IOD fuse for about 20min. Went to start the van and low and behold everything worked fine.

I am going to run it as is over the week and see if it messes up again. What a strange problem.

Yes this is the famous confused bcm problem . Pulling the IOD resets the bcm and most likely will fix your problem .
