I have a 2000 Dodge Viper. I had the car scanned and was told Bank one sensor one was bad as well as bank 2 sensor one. I don't know which one is which as there are 4 sensors. Does anyone know which sensor is bank one sensor 1 and which one is bank 2 sensor one.
Thanks

Sensor one is before the cats. What was the exact code for ? If you are running lean or rich there could be something more going on.

I went to advanced auto and they scanned the car. I was only told that bank one sensor one was bad and bank 2 sensor one was bad. As you know there are 4 sensors and there are 2 before the cat and they are 2 after the cat. I bought the 2 sensors and they are different part #'s. He told me that the one closest to the engine was one part # and the one closest to the cat was the other part #. My problem is I don't know if Bank one sensor one is on the driver's side or the passenger side and the same problem with bank 2. sensor one.

The sensor them self are the same most of the time . The wire length is the difference in part # . I will try to check on it for you. I unplug them with the scanner hooked up to find bank one and bank two. But it seems funny you would have two of the go bad at once. Does the car run poorly ?

This car had just under 13,000. miles on it. It hadn't been driven a lot in the last year. I stopped and put gas in it and the engine light came on right after that. I thought it was the gas cap at 1st so that is why I went to have it scanned. I don't have a scanner so I can't check each one when I have it up on the lift. Both sensors are 4 wire ones. I didn't realize they were different lengths. I thought maybe sensor one bank one would be on the driver's side front as it may relate to cylinder one? I can't find anything anywhere to tell me where each bank and sensor are. The car seems to run fine.It is not breaking up or anything like that.

You are correct bank one is on the drivers side.

So, then I should replace the driver's side front 02 sensor, sensor one bank one. Bank 2 sensor one is a different part # so would that be driver's side rear? I really appreciate your help.

Bank 2 sensor one would be the front one on the passengers side .

I went back to the store and they said they gave me the wrong part. They rescanned the car and said it was both of the upstream sensors. The light has gone out so I am not sure if I should replace them or wait and see how the car runs. As you said it doesn't seem right that both would go bad at the same time. I think maybe because the car was sitting. I don't think I should replace them just yet. Any thoughts? Thank you very much for all of your help!!!

I think I would wait and see if they come back on . Put some fresh gas in as soon you get down to half a tank or so.
