Let me start off by saying I'm still unemployed/ broke. But here's something I'd like to do that's free. The Stromberg carburetor on my old 1967 engine is missing the air cleaner mounting post. I have seen pictures of this carb on the internet, and it looks exactly like the part that's on the Carter BBD. I have several of these Old BBD carbs lying around with that peice on it. So my ? is, how would one go about getting that thing offa there. Just grab it with some pliers and start yanking? What keeps it stuck in there?

I wouldn't use pliers on them. Just use 2 nuts of the same size and lock them together about 1/2 way down and see if it will loosen that way by using a wrench on both nuts at the same time.

Most all studs are threaded at both ends. Look in the Stromberg hole and you should see threads. You may need to soak the threads with PB Blaster, etc. to make it easier to remove.

Well yes & no!!... Pliers yes...Yanking... No :D
What keeps it stuck in there?
The groves on the air horn & the "spring" tension of the steel..
