need lean burn carb advice

Started out with 86 lean burn system and have installed early model (78 ) distributor and hei module.Truck starts and runs great over 1500 rpm and up without air cleaner in place however will not idle, after installing air cleaner it cuts out immeadiately after starting. Have a early model carb being shipped my way and plan on dumping all emmision (Ca model) stuff however I'm wondering if there is some way of making current carb run? Lean burn system is still connected in place and new ignition system is powered directly from battery routed through an external on/off switch. Vacuum advance to distributor is connected to carb and is working. Using original coil and it seems to be working ok after voltage checks. Any ideas?

You gotta dump the 'lean burn' system entirely. I believe that Mopar makes 'retro' kits for this as well as do aftermarket ignition kits...

Just so you know, this is what your looking at (A before/after kinda' thing.. ;) )
