What is the problem?

Bought a 727 trans for my 76 440 stepside from G.E.R. before they went out of business and this is whats happening. After driving around come to stopsign and trans doesn't shift back to low so i take of in high gear . Dont do it every time but enough that it concerns me. :help:

Sounds like the pistons in the valve body are sticking to me anyway. Try shifting through the gears manually.
