Hope it's ready, cause it's going on the road, ready or not. I wrecked my Shelby today:o:mad: And I have to have a ride, so ol' Timex is up next. I got it running good again, after replacing 12 pushrods and all the plug wires. Just have to mount a gas tank somehow and close up the trans tunnel again. Wish me luck.;)

No, it's not that bad. Mine's a Dodge, built Ram tough :) '87 Shelby Charger GLHS. I'm fine, right arm is a little sore is all. Car isn't hurt too bad, it's fixable. It's gonna need a front clip and left rear quarter panel and taillight though, and straighten the inner fenders.

Not quite yet, almost though. Just need to hang the gas tank in it and switch the tag and insurance over. Should be this week though. Gotta finish tweaking the timing too, I think I have it jacked up to high, had it set at 14 initial, sounds good but spits back through the carb if it's revved too quick. Gonna knock it down to 12 and try that.

Got the timing set, carb's set. Cranks and runs fine now. Tag's going on tomorrow hopefully, if I got the money. Then drive it over to my friend's shop and get the tank mounted.

WOOHOO!! I drove it yesterday! Run great, trans works like a charm, starts and warms up good. Still needs a bit of fine tuning I'm sure, but seems to pull good, even in 5th gear. Still has an annoying header leak at the head too, gotta get some new gaskets (again) and some proper 7/16 header bolts so I can tighten them up easier. Sounds good though, dumping right out of the Flows ;)

Think I need to put a hotter t-stat in, this thing runs really cool. Too much radiator now, I think.
Drove it yesterday to the store and back, was pretty cold out, got our first snow of the year here. Didn't want to idle, although granted, I did just crank it up and take off pretty much, no warm-up really. Time I got home again it started idling by itself.
Wed night, driving home, the intake/carb was trying to freeze up on me. Started stuttering like it was running out of fuel. Shut it off for a minute, started right back up, drove fine for about 10 secs, started again. Pulled in at the next gas station (closed, it was 11pm) and let it sit for a few. Got out and felt the intake, cool to the touch, after driving for 25 mins?! So I guess I'll have to stick me a 210 t-stat in this thing for the winter, or whatever I can find. W/ this 195 stat, it barely even gets to the bottom of normal.

SNOW? In SC? Huh.... I didn't think it ever snowed there!
Ya know, I run a 160 in my truck year round, and never have probs, even at 20 below... But I'm also using a 'standard' 2-row radiator also....

Yeah, I don't think running cold is the problem, I just had to drive home on 4-cyls tonight :( I think maybe the pick-up in the distributor went bad? Thought it could have been bad gas, but I put another 4-5 gals in it and 2 bottles of STP gas treatment, never cleared up. Won't idle, sounds, acts and smells like it's flooding, no power, stalls at lights most of the time. Hot or cold, runs the same. Guess I'm gonna throw my points set-up back on it tomorrow (don't have any elec dizzy's here at the house), see what that does.

What size Rad are you running? Cause mine over heats when it's 60* or warmer with a 160* t-stat and has been freezing with a 160 in for winter.
Speed Dragon

I'm running a 2-core GM crossflow rad. Found out that the pick-up tube on my sending unit is either too short to pick up when it get down to about 5 gals, or it's got a hole in it up high, insdie the tank. Damn used junk.

Well, I swapped out the coil, ignition module, and the ballast resistor yesterday, and made sure it had plenty of gas in it. Saturday I changed out the pick-up in the distributor. Still runs bad, but only after it runs for a bit. Crank it up cold, run good, hitting on all 8. Drive it around for 5, 10, maybe 15mins and all of a sudden it just goes to crap, sounds like it's on about 4 cyl's. I'm down to thinking it's fuel related, either my new fuel pump is going bad, or something in the carb (unlikely IMO). Only thing not replaced w/ known good parts in the ignition is the plug wires. Spark plugs are like a week old, Champion RN14YC.
ARRRRGH, this is driving me crazy! Did I mention I love Dodge trucks? :)

Edelbrocks are junk :) swapped on my Carter AFB I got from 75powerwagon, truck ran much smoother. Needs a float though :( My edelbrock is junk, my TQ is junk, my Holley is off a Ford and takes too much work to fit it to my Dodge, the Rochester Dualjet and Motorcraft 4-bbl are parts only. I'm fixin' to have an Ebay motors garage sale I think lol. I'm sick of looking at this junk that doesn't do me any good.
Anyway, float and 2 new needles/seats are on the way, be here tomorrow. Hopefully this will be the cure for all my problems. Well maybe not all my problems... :)

Was the fuel pump the Advance brand?Yeah, made by Master. It was the cheap $16 pump. I got them to give me a new one. Put it on and drove down to the shop here in it just now, does good but flooding at low rpms, I forgot to get 2 needle and seat assy's, so no the one I didn't replace is bad I guess ;) Guess I'll swap out the new float I didn't need for another needle and seat tomorrow:thatfunny Hopefully that will fix it, then I'll just have to reset the timing.

Is a Edelbrock 1405 model 600 carb worth rebuilding?
Speed Dragon

Is a Edelbrock 1405 model 600 carb worth rebuilding?I'd say yes. I think I'm gonna put mine back on this week, see how it does. It may not be junk as I thought, may have been the fuel pump screwing w/ me. It definitely revved better w/ the Eddy than it does w/ this factory AFB I have on it now, seemed like it pulled a bit better too. Although the AFB is still having an intermittent flooding problem, hopefully will get that solved tomorrow.
Reset the float on it at the shop tonight, made a big diffrence, gonna replace the other needle and seat tomorrow and the driver side float, I thought I saw fuel coming out of it when I pulled the top off tonight. Might have a crack in the seem and filling w/ fuel, causing the flooding.
Truck's running a lot better now though. It's actually fun to drive now:cool:

Well damn, put the other new needle and seat in and the new float and made it worse lol :( It did good on the way to work yesterday, when I left work after replacing those parts it was stuttering just off idle and idle was fat and low. Turned it up a bit at a gas station, adjusted the mixture, made it a little better but not much. Finally got fed up and floorboarded it a couple time through 2nd and 3rd, up to about 4200rpms, whadda ya know, cleared up the stuttering. Still rich though, and now the idle is back down low.
So I guess I just need to build a carb for it. Other than this it seems pretty good, pulls hard, sounds good. I need to get a good tune on the carb bad I think, anyone got a good baseline setting for a 318? I think I'm gonna build the Edelbrock and use it.
