Can anyone tell me what a stock fuel pump on a 77 adventurer with a 318 puts out. Everything is still stock and I am considering putting in a pressure regulator or rebuilding the carb. The truck runs fine but seems to dump to much gas through it. It seems to load up real bad no matter what the conditions are outside. It may be just as simple as the float is not set right and allowing to much gas to get in there. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you rebuild the carb also get a new float. :gr_patrio

If I remember right its around 7-10 psi... I can't remember exactly..
But I would rebuild the carb before I install a regulator.. ( didn't need one before.. Shouldn't need one now)..
A new carb rebuild kit will run $20.00 - $30.00
And like mentioned before... Buy a new float!!!.. But more than likely its your needle & seat assembly

According to my Haynes manual, fuel PSI should be 2 1/2 to 8 psi.
But, Mopower79 is right, if it didn't need a regulator 'stock' it shouldn't need one now. You only should need a regulator if you're running a (high performance or not) electric fuel pump.
Yes, it sounds like a carb cleaning/rebuilding is in order. You may have some crud in the needle and seat. You might want to try (Before tearing the carb apart) a pint of Seafoam in the tank. The stuff can work wonders.. :D
And also, if you find you do need to rebuild the carb, charlie1935/Mopower79 is correct again... Spend the few extra bucks and buy a new float along with the rebuild kit (They don't come with a kit) ... It'll be a plastic float with a brass hinge on it, but over time they can get fuel inside the float... Even the smallest amount of fuel getting inside the float will cause it to 'sink' a little (And keep in mind, even a small difference at the needle can make a "Runs Great/Like Crap" difference) and will allow too much fuel into the carb...

Thanks for all the help. If the fuel pump only puts out about 10 pounds max then I guess it is time to rebuild the carb. I was checking prices and it going to be $30 for kit and $15 for the float. It sounds a lot better than $110 for a rebuilt carb that who knows what has been done to it.

Club cab means you can just haul more crap around.
