Ok I've cleared most of the hoses from the "amplifier" etc but have one extra piece to figure out. It is connected to a "solenoid delay valve" by vac hoses (disconnected now) and the wiring you can see in the pic. I know the wire (white then red) going off to the right is to the choke (Edelbrock carb). The others are what I can't figure. I would like to get rid of it if possible - keeping the choke of course. Any ideas, experience, etc?

Thanks,

Looks like the factory resistor for the choke, I think. You shouldn't need it.

Yeah, Speed's right, that's a resistor going to the electric choke heater in a 'stock' setup. (Another thing that the Dodge Boys decided needed a voltage drop on... Sheeeesh!)

If you've got an Eddy carb with an electric choke that's ment to run on full voltage, you can get rid of that doo-hickey.... (Especially as you've gotten rid of all the other 'smog' thing-a-ma-gigs on it)

What you do want to keep in mind is... Your probably going to find a little switch thats buried beneath your sending unit for your oil pressure guage. It looks like one of those little senders for an idiot light. (And it's buried waaaaay down there..)
Anyway, when the ignition is 'on/run' you've got power going to that switch, which is normally 'open'. When the engine is running, the oil pressure closes that switch, when then gives you power to the choke heater. This was done, I imagine, so the choke didn't start to heat up and open the second you switched the ignition 'on', ran back into the house to get the letters you almost forgot to take to the post office, then came back out to start the engine and have the choke fully open... ;)

Anyway, make sure that switch is still in the loop...

Actually its supposed to be a thermal choke delay/ electric assist but yeah chuck it.
