Happy New Year
I was wondering it is worth the time and effort to sandblast a set of new new headers and repaint them with hi heat paint ? How long wpould the heat paint stay on before it burns off . Iam thinking that i will just bolt them on and go . Thanks

Hi heat paint could possibly last for years, if you use the brush on stuff, not the spray on. The best way to go is to have them powdercoated, but that could easily double the price tag.

I was gonna go througha ll this trouble with mine... but it was easier to just get a set of ceramic coated headers that look much better.

My experience has been that, yes the high temp (Like that VHT 1200 degree stuff) paint will last a lot longer than the way it comes in the box, but it will still eventually burn off (Especially right at the exhaust ports)..
You can toughen that up a bit buy painting the headers while they're hot (As in heating them up with a propane torch while still uninstalled) You'll get longer life, but that will still burn off sooner or later....
It's just the way it is... :(

Forgot to mention www.eastwood.com is my #1 source for this kind of stuff.

I'd have them powdercoated, you can probably get it done for 100 bucks or less, depends on the cost of the powder and how much they use.

I'm just wirebrushing an old set I have and spraying them with some high temp paint. I know they're giong to burn off after a while but it's for my mud/trail RC anyway. Besides the exhauast temps on these engines only reach around 1200 degress F or so IIRC. Now on my RX-7 the exhaust temps can reach 2400 degrees or more!
