new to site so bear with me.
My son was driving 97 dodge neon 2.0 dohc all of a sudden started smoking (white from exhaust) and started running real rough. replaced wires and plugs still running rough. not smoking as much but does start right up. don't know if seals blew or injector problem. anybody went thru this let me know.

That reminds me of when the head gasket blew in my wife's old 97 Neon. I hope for your sake its not that. How many miles do you have on it?

Sounds to me like a blown head gasket.Oil burning would leave blue smoke, black smoke would mean it has a fuel problem and white smoke is normally coolant. Id say it needs a new head gasket! Good Luck!

top end was rebuilt at 132,000. now has 140,000. was blowing white smoke when you let it idle and pull away. I put some slick 50 in motor to see if it helps the seals and goes away for a while then comes back. puzzled on this one.

just found out #4 cylinder spark plug is covered in oil. now I don't know if it is coming from the top end or the bottom end. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
