Hey guys i just bought a 1986 Dodge power ram with a 360 and lifted and all the goodies. I have some ?s about whether its running rich or whats going on. It has 115,000 miles on it and i've noticed that it drips just a little bit of fuel out of my exhaust after i run it for a little while and i was wondering what i need to go through to adjust richness. they guy wanted 5500 for it and i ended up gettin it for 4000.and any other ideas of what to do or go through would be greatly appeciated.thanks

Is it fuel or just condensation? If the engine is running so rich that fuel is dripping out of the exhaust, the engine probably wouldn't run at all.
Smell the fluid.
BTW, welcome to DT and post some pics when you can.

it smelt somewhat of fuel but not strongly like i thought it would so i think its just conensation. what does that mean?
i would post pictures but it won't allow me to post them with the [img] tag. it says your post contains one or more URLS, please remove them before submitting your message again. so what do i need to post pictures. thanks

A chevy engine in a Dodge. I guess he didn't see what they just did to Saddam for doing that... ;)

If it has the original Rochester Quadrajet 4bbl on it that may be running a touch rich. It may need rebuilding with a new float and the fuel bowl plugs sealed.
well it has a holley 4bbl on it it doesnt have the stock carb. but i just don't have the money to throw a mopar crate engine in it and chevy engines are very cheap and im just trying to get an awesome running truck and i don't have the money to keep it dodge. but do they make the 350 to fit my truck and would i have to buy anything extra to put it in. thanks. ted.

What your asking is "Can I put a square peg in a round hole?"
Well, sure, anything can be done with enough time, patience, money and know-how. If you're hinting around at 'Are there any kits that would allow me to do this?"... Not that I've ever seen. Yes, there are kits out there to put a SB chevy in all sorts of rigs, but I doubt you'll find anything for a full-size Dodge pickem' up. You'd probably have to fabricate everything...
If you want a cheap-o truck, just go buy a chevy. They're a dime-a-dozen.
(Besides.... putting a chevy engine in a Dodge... It'd be like kissing your sister.. :YUK: ... )

86!!
That is one NICE rig!!!!
How could you even THINK of putting a Chebby in that?? (Do that again and you will be banned from the Dodge Brotherhood for LIFE.. :D :D :D )
(Hahahahaha..... Just kidding... :D :D :D )
(No, not really.... ;) )
Anyway, yes, a crate engine is pricey, but does it have to be a crate engine?
There are many many places in the country that do excellent work remanufacturing engines (And KEEP IN MIND there is a big difference between 'rebuilt' and 'remanufactured'...)
Don't know where your at (Other than it ain't here because there is no snow in your pic ;) ) but this is where I'm going to be buying my next engine.. These guys have a HUGE rep in the northwest and beyond... (S&S Machine in Spokane, WA.)
Not only that, a whole hellava' lot cheaper than 5 grand.... :D
dang thats an awesome. deal. if only i live close i live in Florida. How much would shipping be and can i take everything from the engine that i have and transfer it to the remanufactured engine? thanks.

I cant believe you picked up that rig for 4k! That is cherry!
I don't see why you would want to spend the money for a crate, if the block is in good shape just tear down the top end and do new heads, cam, intake and carb for half the price of a crate.

true but i just wanted t start all over new and then drop an allison transmission in it and some dana 60's and get a 2in body lift and throw some 39s or 40s under her cuz i have 37s on it now. hey i was wondering. does it seem a little odd that i get 8 miles to the gallon. i knew i would get bad gas milage but 8 i was hoping for like 11 0r 12 at least.

Just email them and find out.. Although I'm sure there must be quality engine remanufacturers closer to you....
and can i take everything from the engine that i have and transfer it to the remanufactured engine?
Yup, should just bolt right up...
hey i was wondering. does it seem a little odd that i get 8 miles to the gallon.
Not really... Especially with those huge tires and a tired engine...
i knew i would get bad gas milage but 8 i was hoping for like 11 0r 12 at least.
I get about 9 mpg in my 79' PW with a 360. 10 if I'm really careful on the pedal. You should get better mpg with a fresh engine, 4bbl carb and running it in 2WD...
