I've got a 97 caravan 3.3 and the tranny leaks in the front of the transmission, it drives fine filled with fluid but slipps when gets low.. Would it be the transmission going out or is there anything I can try first...

The slipping is typical of any auto transmission when it's low on fluid. By front I presume relative to the front of the van? If so, probably the pan gasket or the coolant lines to the tranny. If you're not 100% sure I suggest degreasing the transmission (and engine too while you're at it), make sure the transmission is topped off with the proper fluid (I keep reading ATF+4 is the only recommended fluid, so use that) and checking it again after driving it a few miles.

Hope this helps you

Just to venture a guess...

Did you eject the differential pin?

I had that happen, put a nice hole in my trans case and leaked atf like crazy. I drove it like that for quite a while (so long you stop periodically to make sure it has atf it would survive the ordeal).
