My Fiance has a 2002 Dodge Neon ES .Do you check the power steering fluid with the engine off or running and what type of fluid does this car take ? Arnie

you can check it running or not. I personally think its easier to get a better read on the dipstick which has markings on it to guide you when the engine is off.

Just use your average power steering fluid from the carparts store.

The dipstick may have a "hot" and a "cold" fill level marked on it. If neither is specified check the PS fluid when the engine is cold.
