Well, for most of you who do not know, there is an excellent fix out there to this common problem.
Goodyear offers a kit called the FIELD REPAIR KIT (part # 49204K)
Also available through NAPA autoparts called the GATES kit

I have installed this product on my '99 caravan 3.0 as of December 21st 2006 without incident. Best $170 cnd tax in i have ever spent.
I would suggest working under the hood rather then under the vehicle. Use a broom handle or rod to prop the hood up on the drivers side which will allow you to work on the pulleys and belt without the original prop rod in your way.
Also, unbolt the alternator and put it aside for easier access to the tensioner.
Essentially this kit replaces the idler pulley and tensioner with a ribbed edge and a groove style pulley. The kit also comes with a double sided v-groove drive belt so that the belt will come in complete contact with each pulley and basically stay on it's desired path without any misalignment which usually causes the belt to make the squealing sound we all love to hate.
I would suggest that anyone who has installed this kit on their 3.0 vehicle. To post their comments to urge any other individuals out there to fix their problem once and for all. Also, post any installiton reccomendations to make the task easier.
For $170.00, i say that is the best piece of mind you can buy yourself as you will not find yourself stranded on the side of the road due to a belt slipping off and you can actually hear yourself taking the order at TIM HORTONS because your belt no longer squeals :0
