My rear blower only works on high. I know it's usually the resistor block. I've tried to find it-- no luck. I've tried calling auto parts stores for the part but none of them list it. What am i missing? If i can't locate it in the van and the stores don't sell it then i'm lost. HELP!!

If the parts stores don't have it go to the dealer , it is not that expensive even at the dealer , probably less than $40 .

Thanx for the info.

Got one today from my Chrysler dealer (Resistor block part for 2001+ models not stocked by NAPA, Advanced, etc). $20.01 with tax. This is one part that the dealer doesn't seem to gouge you on.

Hi, I'm having the same problem with my 2003 GC (rear blower) and plan on changing the resistor this weekend. Was this part located behind the glove box, buckeyeboy? I've read where some years' models are located elsewhere.

The resister block that is located behind the glovebox is for the main/front blower only. I am pretty sure that there is no resister for the rear. You may have a bad switch.

Thanks for the reply, buckeyeboy.

That's strange. Wholesalemopar dot com lists seperate resistors for the front and the rear (they call the rear AC/Heat "Auxiliary AC/Heat"). Guess I'll have to do some more digging...

I changed mine a while back. If you open the panel on the passanger side just inside the rear lift gate you will see the blower housing. The resistor will have two screws holding it in. Remove the wiring clip and the two screws and its out. The board is different looking than the front you usually see. They are just a flat black board.

Thanks, denbass12. There's surprisingly little info about the auxiliary system of the GC on the net. Much appreciated.

Just wanted to post a follow up. It was exactly where denbass12 said it would be. Just remove the panel on the passenger side near the lift gate, where the vent is. Now I've got all my fan speeds back for the rear blower. :rck: Easy as cake...or is that pie?...I can never keep those straight.

For anyone else that needs to find a rear blower resistor, go to wholesalemopar dot com and look for part# 5019189AA. Or you can just go to your dealer.

The fan on my 2001 GC only works on high 'only' for all the fan controls (front, rear control from front and rear control in the ceiling panel. Do I have resistor problems in two places?

I have found the resistor behind the glove box. I see the vent on the rear panel on the passenger side just inside the life gate. Is this 'vented' panel the one? If so, how do you remove it?

Yes, N4WJT, that's where it is on the 2003 GC. Probably the same on the 2001. I just pried with a flat-head screwdriver near the seams of the panel. There's a couple clips that hold it in place. It's easy to find the resistor once you get the panel off.

Just to update. I was able to locate both the front and rear resistors, replaced them, and now all my fan controls are normal. I added some refrigerant and everything was fine 'for a while'. Apparently I have a leak. It's no longer cooling......but the fans work great. Thanks for help.
