I have a clunking sound coming from my front suspension. It sounds to me like a ball joint, but the ball joints on this type of suspension really don't carry much load. The dealer told me it was the sway bar and bushings, but after $70 worth of parts I still have the same problem. I only have 59,000 miles on it. Any suggestions? Has anyone had trouble with the struts?

Seems a little early for the struts. The sway bar end links are often the problem They attach between the top of the strut and the sway bar. For that price, the dealer might have changed them also, check the bill.

I found this site looking for a cure to the same problem,,,,I hear a clunking noise underneath the front end...I have a 2001 grand caravan sport...100,000 miles. I notice the noise when i hit small bumps...don't hear it at highway speeds.....I have found that the ball joints are not servicable..must be replaced when they are bad,,mine seem to be ok...Outer tie rod ends seem OK.....I have also checked the inner tie rod ends attached to the steering gear (rack & pinion),,,,this took a little more work, Had to slide the boots out of the way for inspection. If i move the steering wheel quickly from right to left I feel a slight click/clunck in the steering gear itself. I can also feal it. The steering gear is $175.00 parts only at NAPA...I'm thinking on replacing it as well as maybe the swaybar bushings...Anyone ?????

I also have an 02 GC Sport and have had the swaybar bushings replaced twice and the liks once. The last bushing replacement being Dec 1st/06. I presently have 90,000kms(about 55,000 miles). I have owned 3 previous Caravans and ALL of them had the same problem. I believe that it is an inherent defect that Chrysler just does not want to correct.

Replace the end links, then the bushings, before you tackle the rack etc. I'm betting it's the links/bushings.
