Pretty sure the wheels will work, but the tires won't.

why wouldn't the tires for an srt-r fit on a 99 if the wheels do?

why wouldn't the tires for an srt-r fit on a 99 if the wheels do?
Because it would be about 2" too tall. You'd need something more along the lines of a 205/40/17 instead of the 205/50/17 that the SRT-4 comes with.

205/50/17 is about 25.4"~ tall

205/40/17 is about 23.4"~ tall

Your stock car came with 185/65/14's which are about 23.3"~ tall.

Those specs depend on the tire, but they're all going to be pretty close to that.

yes trust me i know for a fact that the srt-4 rim will fit on a srt-4 but not with the stock kdw! ez4u2c is right! lol well i just sold my srt-4 rims a couple weeks ago lol i got close to $500 for em without the tires so they wont be cheap andmost ppl on ebay charge arm and a leg for em, why i dont know there 6" wide lmfao but they do look nice on a black 1st gen!

Yar I thought we had been over all this. ;)

The stock SRT tires will hit a 1st gen spring perch, that is why they need to have a smaller sidewall.

This is a 40 series:

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a144/tx_firehawk/rear_wheel_2.jpg

Not much more room to play there.

And 500 for just the rims? Holy cow you got a lot for them. The set on my car were 200 mint cond and the 2nd set were also 200 in 90% cond. //shrug

ok lol u cant read i guess!
Give him a break. Maybe he just doesn't understand tire sizes.
Geeesh, the guy has been a member for just a few days and he's already getting bashed.

And yes, it is not uncommon at all to see SRT-4 wheels "AND" decent tires go for $300-$400. They're don't bring very much money simply because they are only a 6" wide wheel.

Whoever the moron at DCM was who decided to put a 6" wide wheel on a performance car needs to be shot!!!

yeahh.........not very experienced at this tire shitt. So...how much n where do you think i could get a set of tires that are small enough to go with it? that's wierd. you would think they would fit. I'll prolly get some used ones...

dodgeneonACR98
12-11-2006, 11:51 AM
The metal part (wheel) will fit your car. It's the rubber part (the tire) that makes it fit or not!! Go to www.tirerack.com and look for the wheel/tire calculator. There you will type in your "STOCK" wheel and tire size and what size rim you want to buy. It will tell you what size tire to buy for that particular wheel size. Good Luck!

That would be awesome....are they just like the ones you have on now?? they look pretty good on the 1st generations. The only thing is I have to have the smaller tires. Pics would be great. You can send em to me..

www.dakota-truck.net/TIRECALC/tirecalc.html is a great site for comparing tire specs, not even going to attempt the argument going on, lol.

Here are 2 of them that I have here at the house. The other 2 are at my garage. Like I said, I am not trying to get rid of them, I do want them b/c they are hard to find and they have like I said 0 road rash but I can get more sets, I have friends with the cars so.. I do not mind selling the set if you wanted them.

I would pull the tires off if you wanted them, you cant run that side wall anyway :P

flamn99neon
12-12-2006, 11:44 PM
Soo... these would fit my car the way they are now? when i get em i can put em on? or are those tires to bigg? wat you mean by "i cant run them sidewalls"?

TX_Firehawk
12-13-2006, 12:04 AM
Check post # 10.

1st gens have a lower spring perch than the SRT, so we have to run a smaller sidewall to clear it.

Lookie---->

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a144/tx_firehawk/rear_wheel_2.jpg

The pass side rear of my car. That is a 40 series tire. Any larger and you will hit the perch.

edit: there are 205 50's on the spare set now. I am pretty sure they will not clear our struts. The tires are toast anyway, I would not roll around on them for very long.

flamn99neon
12-13-2006, 12:09 AM
yeah i know. i looked at that. wonder why they made it so low?! But what im tryin to figure out is if those gunmetal srt4 tires on those are too big or are thye okay?

95moparracer
12-13-2006, 12:15 AM
the rims will fit man... u will have to buy brand new tires! either 205/45( or 40)/17 or 195 45 17's the rim will fit as long as u get set of new tires. ok look i dont know how many times we have to break this down for u! the stock srt-4 rims come with 17" rims (metal part) then the tires that are on them are 205/50 ( or 55)/17. this tire fits on these rims yes but with this tire combo and rim it will not fit on a 1st gen neon! now if u take off the stock tires and get a 205/45 or 40 series tire the rims will fit! kapish?

TX_Firehawk
12-13-2006, 12:20 AM
:hair:

They are so low prob due to the fact that my car came with 14 in rims. +3 in is a pretty big increase on a little car.

SRT's come with 17's OE, so the strut is not the same.

flamn99neon
12-13-2006, 11:34 AM
i was asking if the tires on the ones you might sell were the stock ones that came with them or lower profile ones...How much are you wanting??

He already told you that you can't run them sidewalls. No the tires on them wheels will not work on your car. Just going by the pics Id say they need to be replaced rather they fit or not. I have 16's for sale but im not going to sell them by mail. Cost to much to ship them any place. Im asking 350 for the wheels and tires. I got about 650 in them with the tires. They are 205/50/16's. They are oversize for the car but will fit it.
They need to be 205/45/16 or 205/40/16.

flamn99neon
12-14-2006, 11:33 AM
You got some pics of em? How much you think the tires that i'll need to go w/ the srt-4 wheels will be around?

dodgeneonACR98
12-14-2006, 11:45 AM
Look in my gallery! The wheels are on my car in the Avatar. The bigger the tire the more it will cost. Id bet the srt tires you need to fit your car are over 400$ for all 4.
The tires on my 16's were almost 400. Look around here and read the post titled.

Chooseing the right tire and wheel combo!! It's got alot of info, and if you read it you may not have any more questions about it. Good Luck
