hi everyone first post over here at neon central, usually in the 2nd gen trucks but now have a problem with neon that i need help on. with all this wanting to be winter stuff here in michigan it keeps getting warm and cold and the back roads get muddy. well to make a long story short i got hung up on a big as rut and now have a slow leak in the fuel tank. all i know is it is leaking some where aroung the sending unit. what i am wondering is where can i get one CHEAP. like i have a total of 400 into the car after buying it and replacing the head, head gasket, radiator, all four tires, ac condensor and radio. so any help and also would like to know where i could get some new shift linkage bushings to fix the sloppy shifter, and a good front motor mount. thanks sarge

A bone yard is a good place to get a different tank. You might get the sending unit from autozone or advanced, but I imagine that it's a dealer item only. Seeing how they normally dont go bad. Neither of the two would be cheap I doubt! Thats why I suggest a whole new tank. Since you are not really sure if it's the sending unit or if it's just leaking close to it.

A junk yard gas tank would be the best bet! Then you arent stuck with a hole in the tank and a 120$ sending unit that you didn't need. JMO tho. Good luck on that.

As for the Motor mount and shifter bushings. www.HowellAutomotive.com has Booger bushings that will fix the sloppy shifter. It replaces the one on the tranny and the ones in the console part of the shifter. They are really nice. I made my own for my tranny out of a peice of rubber and a C-clip. Works great! I have not seen how bad the motor mount is but I bet it's worse since the rut!! Look at Howell or at Modernperformance for the motor mount. Heck even e-bay for a mount! That'd be cheap! Good luck!

hey thanks, im pretty sure its not the sending unit because it seems to come from arond it where the unit goes into the tank and the ring goes around it to snap it in. shoot maybe ill pull the tank on friday, it could just be that o-ring around the sending unit. sarge
