Hi guys I just had the gears replaced in the rear end and thats what it was. The gears got hot and scorched a mark in the bearings and burnt the fluid they think it was a bad set of gears or somthing. I pulled the trailer on a very hot day and i only had 1300 miles on the new gears. They said to have at least 1000 miles on the new gears to break them in, I hope it doesent happen agian! we are pullen to florida to disney next month and now i am scrambling to put the new break in miles on her.

Don't forget to change the oil in the axle before your next road trip, this will flush out the metal in the oil from the new gearset and keep it from damaging the bearings.

Yes, change the oil, use synthetic.

Thats all Ive used since my 1st rear end oil change at 15k, then about 90k I changed gears for more power, waited about a 1000miles, and changed the oil w/ synthetic. Ive also always used that posi additive from the dealer. When I dont use it I get a noise from the rear end.
