1995 Caravan Backfire/No acceleration 3.3l

Ok,I've got a 1995 caravan with the 3.3L in it and i've got this intermittent problem.This van will run fine for a few days or even weeks and then all of the sudden when you're driving along it will start to backfire and lose power (it wont stall out though) when you mash the gas it will take about 10 seconds and then it takes off like crazy.When its doing it, if I take the air box lid off it sounds like its sucking air like a clogged vacuum cleaner.Usually to solve the problem I just turn the van off for 5 minutes and it goes away.The only code it shows is the o2 sensor.We've changed every other sensor on the van,fuel pump,coil pack,fuel filter.Mechanic says its not the o2 sensor causing it but at this point in time I think we'll change it anyway.

Has anyone had a similar problem? This is getting to be annoying and solving this problem for my family would be awesome.

Yes I had this problem before and it was the O2 sensor. Is the fault code O2 (stuck at center) or something like that? The van I had did the same as what you are saying yours did. I would replace the O2 sensor, I bet it will fix it. Factory one is the best one to use.
