Here in about three months or so. I'm trying to decide what a fair asking price would be. I bought it for $2500, but I'm thinking when I DO sell it, only asking about $1500-2000. Yeah, it needs some work, as all of our old beloved Dodges do, but She's dependable. The ONLY time I had to tow it was when my tie-rod end broke. (That was rather interesting in itself....) It's my daily driver, but I've had to come to the realization that I need something more economical, as 7-8 mpg's are killing my wallet. Any and all input will be welcome, so lay it on me.
Thanks!

Why do you have to sell it? She sounds controlling, don't marry her.

buy a little geo metro or something cheap, and keep the truck... it's not worth selling it, you wont get much of anything for it... plus it would be extremely nice to have the 2nd vehicle in case you ever need it.

Man, if you are letting her control you before you even get the ring on you are in deep doggy do-do later on in life. Buy a cheap car and keep the truck.

Here's another thing I failed to mention...Since she has really good credit, and mine's shot, she' going to take out a loan in her name, buy me a car that's not more then 1-2 years old and put it in my name. Of course, we'll be making the payments back to the bank, but it'll work out that I get the new car. She wants a truck so bad that it hurts, but she's conceded to getting the engine and trans rebuilt in her car so that I can get the new one. BTW, hers is a '95 T-Bird LX, V8, leather, sunroof, yadda yadda yadda. So in reality, I see that as her making a sacrifice for me. Lemme know what y'all think.

Blade Runner..logically what you're doing is the way to do it. BUT I personally don't like that she said that you "had" to sell your beloved truck. My wife puts up with my vanning disease as long as I let her get the things she wants, which is fine with me.
Then again I don't know your fiancee from Eve, so I can't pass judgement on someone I don't even know. Still don't like it.

If you get rid of this toy because she said so, you'll never have another. I told my girl when we got together - when she got me, she got all the cars, trucks and spare parts along with me, and if she didn't like it say so now or forever hold her peace.
I left one girlfriend because of exactly what yours is doing. She wanted me to gid rid of all my old projects and toys, take out a big loan to buy a big fancy house, didn't want me spending time at the shop or the drag strip, etc.
Even if she is going to buy you a new vehicle, I dunno, sounds like it'll be just one more thing to hang over your head. "Don't forget, I bought you that new truck!" If you really love her and don't really care about the truck, then get rid of it and marry her. If you are into the truck, like it, don't really want to get rid of it, then keep the truck and tell her to like it or lump it. If she really loves you, she accept you with the gas-guzzler. If she has her own car to drive, then why should she care anyway? Unless she just wants all the money she can get from you.
Sorry for the long post, not really trying to go off on you or her, just giving my opinion. I've seen a lot of guys living miserable lives cause they married some money-hungry harpie that won't let them have any fun. You know your situation better than we do, so do what you gotta do. But here's one more thought, if you guys do get married, assuming that she works as well, you'll have double the money coming in, so you'll have enough extra to spend on the old truck. Maybe even enough to get a tune-up so it'll get 8-9 mpg lol.

I'd never marry a girl who didn't love trucks or couldn't handle a shotgun....

My thoughts exactly, get a cheapo daily driver and keep the gas-sucking truck for fun.
I told my (now) wife long ago that my Duster was here before her and it'll be here after her. I've had the car for about 20 years now.

Actually, when you're out hunting... And you're in an area that's infested with cougars (Like here) you want someone bringing up the rear. Because:
A: 90% of the time that's where they attack from...
B: The person with the shotgun (My wife) doesn't have to be that good of a shot.... If ya know what I mean ;)
So, it's a good thing she can handle one. I, on the other hand, (Not that it would ever come to it) just have to make sure I'm better... :D :D :D

Guess I`ll chime in here too, with my opinion...I dont see why there has to be a condition, to getting marryed, that you must give up your truck. Love is supposed to be UNCONDITIONAL....... seems like she is putting conditions on your future relastionship....Like mentioned above, sounds too controlling for me.......
I always had a few cars and trucks around, and wouldnt get rid of any of em, unless I really wanted to.......Right now, i have 3 cars, and 2 trucks, and ATV, and four cub cadet tractors........My wife respects my hobbys and `toys`and would never ask me to get rid of anything.... Id really think this one over .....The truck now, what will it be later???? You may be starting something, that you will regret later.....

Unfortunately for me, I can't keep the truck at the apartment complex if I do decide to keep it. We both work, but economically, I can't afford to keep the truck AND get a new vehicle. As I had stated previously, she's putting off getting herself a new truck so that I can get the new vehicle. As for the guns, she hates 'em, but I'm bringing them with me. Her forte is well, more silent, yet just as deadly--Throwing knives...lol One of her exes taught her how, and it's saved her life. As for my truck, the windshield leaks, the driver's window is loose inside the door (surrounded by old t-shirts and towels) and the heater switch is busted. I WILL be getting another project, but this one is beyond my skill level (and tool level) to complete.

Oh. Well, I've been a renter before too. It's tough to have a "project" car or truck under those circumstances. You gotta do what you gotta do.
Make sure she understands that one day you will own an old Dodge truck again.

Well, as long as she's not just making you get rid of it just cause she don't like it. I understand you do what ya gotta do. I need to get rid of some of my cars right now too, I have about 12 or 14 or something like that lol. My '67 D200 and my parts '79 Ramcharger are at Dad's place, and they gotta be moved by the 17th. He has to get rid of all the cars at his place, some wonderful new neighbor ratted on him:VHOT: I got 3 or 4 I need to sell too.

Start it at 2 grand and go from there, would be my guess. Later on in your marriage when money and housing is better, you can get another toy, maybe even nicer than what you've got now. Don't worry it'll come around.

As rusty as it is, you'll be lucky to get a grand for it I think. I'd start it at 1200 and negotiate from there.

Thanks for the good luck....On running the ridges, this beast would be perfect. I've slogged her (the truck, lol) through 3+ feet of mud and whatnot, and even without the front shaft have not stuck it. She needs a home that she can roam at, instead of trundling through life as a daily driver. Hopefully, when time comes to sell her, I'll find her that good home. :D
