I need to know which of the a/c fittings is the low side. There is one in front right by the air filter and then another one farther back towoard the fire wall. They don't have any markings on the caps indicating high or low side, but the one in the rear has a metal line and is thicker than the front one which has a rubber hose.

Your Recharge hose only fits one- the right one which is in the back with the larger tube.
I am having a problem with my 99 Intrep A/C, working day before yesterday only not cooling adequate- it does not want to take more R134a, holding the can up and down and up- it will not take the Freon. Blower is working Clutch indicator light is on- and it was working. Whats up anyone know.

The low side is generally the "fat" line and the high side is generally the "skinny" line. That's the best way I can describe it. Sometimes the manufacturers will color code the caps. Blue=low side Red=high side.
