I am tempted to rustproof my new DAK 2006 with 600 miles on it. There is a special now undercoating for 169.00 at Ziebart and extra for the top end. so 350.00 for the total job. I thought Dodge has a 100K rustproof warranty anyway. I told this to Ziebart and he says to read the fine print on the warranty, he says the warranty is invalid on States that use salt in the winter??--I am in CNY and we use a lot of salt. Is he giving me the business??

Thanks for any comments!!

I wouldn't.

The undercoating is something I regret doing on my 98 dak. It is about impossible to keep clean & looking good. Plus in order to keep the warranty valid, you have to pay for a renewal. It's not worth it IMHO.

I also have an 05 dakota, and I'm going to give it a good cleaning and spray the whole underside with POR-15 before snowfall this year. The stuff is about bulletproof, and will actually prevent rust instead of just covering the metal. Plus it will actually look decent. :)

Don't waste your money on that Zeibart crap. Just keep the thing clean underneath and it will last you a really long time.

Ziebart is not about clean. It's about rust proofing. I have heard pros and cons about how well they apply it. Some are neat while some are sloppy.
