this may be an old question but i am new here.....

I have a 1996 caravan and my int. lights, power locks and door a jar lite go crazy for time to time. I have been told that the Body control module need to be changed but the dealer want $600+ to fix it.

i want to get a used one but have no idea where the module is. Can someone tell me where to find it and is it easy to replace myself..... I have little knowledge of car repairs ( even though i work in the factory where they are built...lol)

Any help would be great

Thanks....>Spool

The BCM is under the drivers side of the dash. Not too difficult to remove, but you'll need a long extension to get to the top fastener. It's a big silver box with two big electrical connectors going into the bottom of it. I also took off the plug-in connector for the OBD tester as those screws are sharp ahd you will scrape up your hands if you leave it in. Go to directauto.com, they have a BCM rebuild service that I used and was very happy with. They'll test it and if it's not the problem they'll ship it back. I think they charged under $200 to rebuild mine for the '97. Be very careful about getting a used one. It needs to be from the same year and have the same power options you have. The BCM also controls your odometer, so if you get a used one you're kinda stuck with the miles that were on that vehicle.

Just in case you need a visual aid.
