3.3l 98 caravan...NO start

Hi,

My dad has a 98 Dodge caravan. yesterday after he stopped @ the grogery store, the car didn't start up. So I came by & boosted it up, tried to start it, nothing happened. I think that it sounded like the motor was turning... but sounded a little bit too slow. So far I've ruled out the alternator & battery... Didnot start up on boost... even though the lights were bright & windows functioned normally only under boost. Although not too sure about the battery.

Could it be the starter? I hit it a couple of times before atttempting to start it up... nothing happened.


Could it be the coil???

Have the battery and alternator tested first, if they check out then its probably the starter.

Yes, it could be the starter, go check it at an Autozone (for free) if it is good, maybe is the timing belt (gulp) if that isn't then your engine is dead (no oil in it) that's the worst case scenario of course (see if a clanking noise is heard)

Only the 3.0L uses the timing belt not the 3.3L
