Ok.. thx for any input on these in advance.
Is for two carvans 92 3.3L and 97 3.0L (both grand caravans/not awd)

Ok for the 92, the Cat convertor is shot, needs replacing, not I'm gonna junk it after inspec runs out end of August, so i don't want to really dump anymore into it. But the question is, i have an old glasspac/cherry bomb 2" id/od, that i was wondering if i can use to to just replace the catalythic convertor. I'm not sure if its safe/legal but was curious what would happen? If it might work, how would i easily set it to control the emissions (i think this is what the CAT does?dunno) but a new cat is expensive for a month and a half of driving. Last option would be to cut it off.. hollow it, and patch the millions of tears lol?

Ok.. for the 97 my friend just bought one two months ago for $1400 /w 135,000 on the odo, not bad when all needed for inspec is front rotors/pads/driver caliper and $1 muffler clamp :D
The van runs great, but my question is when its idling (best noticed on a cold start), there are no leaks in the entire exhaust systemj, but under the hood and out the exit pipe sounds more like a rapid "putt-putt" sound instead of a smooth one. Its a bit like classic muscle car rumling idle but with factory quietness

The only negative issues ive seen is plug #3 i think (vehicle is not here till l8r), but its the one that connects first left behind the block. The van was driven a bit before anyone noticed that it wasnt attached at all, i reconnected it and found out a week later it was off again, so it either blew off or i didnt click the boot on all the way. I haven't checked all the plugs either before its really hard to get any tools on the plugs
If you need more info lemme know, but i feel confused just wring what i wrote

LOL... thx tho :gr_patrio

For your 92, just cut the cat off and clamp on a straight piece of pipe.

For your buddies "Putt putt" could be a few things.

Bad plugs or wires
carbon buildup on valves causing them to not seal properly (3.0L is notorious for this)
Faulty EGR valve (Stuck open)
Low compression in one or more cylinders. Carbon build up will also cause this (A leak down test could tell you which cylinder(s))
