Just to keep a problem log going (I'm always curious as to whether problems are isolated or somewhat widespread):

We've got about 5,000 miles on the Caliber and recently began having problems with the steering wheel radio controls. Also, one of the rods that allows the iPod holder to pivot open and close was loose and let the holder wobble around when it was open.

LEFT SIDE CONTROLS

Should Do --> Was Doing
----------------------------
Top: Next Track --> Previous Track
Mid: Next Preset --> Next Track
Bot: Previous Track --> Volume Up

RIGHT SIDE CONTROLS

Should Do --> Was Doing
----------------------------
Top: Volume Up --> Volume Up
Mid: Mode --> Nothing
Bot: Volume Down --> Worked, But Stiff

Took it to the dealer to fix it. They readjusted the rod on the iPod holder, and replaced the left and right side switch on the steering wheel. Everything is back to normal.

I thought it was just me but my steering wheel controls were acting funny too. When I tried to skip a track it went back two tracks, then it was fine. I think I'll have them replace it as well as fixing my leaky rear window washer fluid dispenser.

5,200 miles on mine, and the damn switches have gone haywire too. They are all nutty, opposite functions than what they are supposed to. It sucks, but oh well.

3000 miles on mine and my steering switches work fine. Wonder if there was a change made. Mine was built in May/06

I am gonna wait a while before I take it in, and see if it happens to more people so that maybe dodge will put out a TSB on it. It doesn't seem lilkely that new buttons would rectify the problem. If the volume jumps from one side of the steering wheel to the other, it would seem like there is a problem with wires or inputs getting crossed. I would assume that there is a Gyro of sorts in the column? How else would you avoid getting wires all tangled up after spinning the wheel a couple times. maybe there is dust or moisture affecting that some how.

My steering wheel controls were doing the same and i took it to the dealer and they fixed the left side but the right is still acting the same...I also took it because my caliber has a sunroof and when i have it open it makes a squeaking noise and they "fixed" it but it still does it! oh well, i'll just wait to see what happens.
