i am wanting to make upgrades to my srt-4 that i just purchased. thinking of putting a blow off valve and upper pressure intercooler hose. thinking of going with AGP upper hard pipe and Greddy blow off valve and a AEM long ram air intake system. is this the way to go or is there a cheaper and better way to go. going to make bigger changes in the future and i want parts that are going to work good with furture mods.

If you're looking for best bang for the buck a blow off valve and pressure pipe is about the worst choice :D

ya, i know it really doesn't give anymore power. was thinking of going with just cold air kit and a mopar performance blowoff plate right now. my wife likes the sound of a blowoff valve or plate. lol

You want to stay away from the mopar bov "rice plate" as I hear everyone call it... they say it boost leaks horribly!
I suggest get on neons.org or srtforums and just buy a used one from someone.. I got a turbo xs rfl for like 75 shipped I think?

Another option is the Forge, a direct bolt on. I like mine. Boomba also makes a direct replacement.
As far as the cold air intake... I had the Mopar, I recently switched to an AEM short ram intake. I like the short ram better.
Unfortuantely an intake is another bad choice for best bang for the buck lol...
Exhaust will give much better gains as a quick bolt on mod.

Andy, what did you not like about the mopar cai and what is better with the AEM?

Listen to this guy, srt4tech, he knows what he's talking about. Besides that, You can sell the stock SRT exhaust on ebay or neons.org for anywhere from $100-$200 easy.

Andy, what did you not like about the mopar cai and what is better with the AEM?
Don't get me wrong... It's not that I didn't like the Mopar CAI, I did actually like it. It looked really nice and sounded great. What I didn't like was the alignment problems causing it to rub on my strut bar, and on the side of the hole going into the fender. I also didn't like the fact that getting access to the filter requires removing the tire and opening the wheel well liner and all that for cleaning/replacing. And last I've found that intake temps, atleast on my car, are at the worst exactly the same with the short ram intake and I actually feel that the car is SLIGHTLY more responsive with the short ram.
So I sold the mopar and bought a slightly used AEM short ram and pocketed $100. If this was a N/A car I would definitely go for a CAI. This has been a debate between some for awhile now, but I wanted to test for myself and my findings are that the turbo simply heats up the charge too much for the intake side to make any difference. This means, IMO, the best results will come from removing restrictions in the intake system and working on cooling after the turbo (intercooler, W/I). In 3rd and 4th gear running stage 2 boost, my intake temps are always 120-150 degrees, even with ambient temps as low as high 60s. (these are temps going into the throttle body) That should be an example to show how much the air gets heated up. Even if you could get ambient temp air into the turbo it's like throwing a peice of ice into a fire.
