I have a 2002 Neon that suddenly developed an electrical problem yesterday. I started it up and all the gauges failed, and the parking brake light and seatbelt light went on and will not turn off. The interior light stays on unless I roll the dimmer switch way down. Also, the interior light has been blinking when I put on my turn signal. It has been very wet here in the Northeast so I’m wondering if water is getting in somewhere and screwing up the electrics. I did have the windshield replaced over a year ago, and my cousin was thinking maybe water was getting into the electrics because the windshield was not installed properly. It looks okay to me, but I really can’t say for sure. The only other work done recently was the timing belt and watered pump being replaced about two weeks ago, but I don’t see how that could contribute to an electrical problem. Anyway, I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, but it did not help. All the fuses appear to be intact as well. Is there anything else I can try to fix this problem before I take it in and spending lots of money (the car has nearly 100,000 miles on it and is no longer under warranty)?
