A good friend of mine has an 04 SRT-4. He is experiencing some poor idle at times. He hasn't had the time to bring it in the shop under warranty just yet.
He popped the hood today and showed me a wire and connector in the area of the intake manifold. Its on the drivers side below the intake box. When the car was running, he pushed on the wire/connector(which is white) and the cars idle went to normal. You could hear the RPM's increase slightly. He did it again, and the car bogged almost until it wanted to cutout. I am thinking the wire harness needs changing because of a possible short where the wire connects into the connector. The harness appears to have 3 different connectors all in the same vicinity. Is this common or has any one had this happen to you. He was told to look in this area by another person on another forum......Help is appreciated!

What exactly is happening with his idle? I'm not sure what wires you're talking about... A very common problem is the TPS, causing idle problems.

Thats what I am suspecting. The harness is right under your airbox. Drivers side. The connector is right on the exhaust manifold. You have to reach under but its visible just standing there looking down at it. Bear with me here. I am trying to remember what the engine area looks like. The connector is white and plugs into a round black sensor. It appears to be the TPS.

i'm really hoping your not seeing it looking down the front of the engine... :D That would be the intake manifold on the front of the block... Yes it is the TPS and it is known to fail on many srt-4's. Is he still under warranty? If so the dealer should be able to replace it.
