So here is my new '91 B-150 Ram Van I purchased yesterday, all washed up. I'm going to get her plated tomorrow, and tinted later this week. I can't wait. Does anybody know of suppliers for non-intergrated fender flares (not f/g running boards) and intergrated air dam. This meaning the air dam and flares join together in the front.....Brad

www.trucknvans.com for the flares.

That's a nice van too! The shortys have their place.

Thanks for info Nate. I will have to 'surf' the above site, more, and see if they will ship to Canada....

Ram Man, as stated, later this week for the tint. As far as flares, I know that on other vans with slider doors, you could get an extender for the rear mount so the door would clear aluminum and F/G running boards. Not sure if they are avaiable, but might be able to rig something up....

ooops

sorry, I typed faster than I read = Tinted windows will look great IMO

I haven't been able to find an extender for my particular application - found some on ebay but so far everytime the buyer says they wont work my my '00

if you have any leads, let me know

TIA and Good luck on your project

Hey! I wanted to get a B2500 12-passenger with the slider door, but couldn't find one in all of my 9 months of searching!

Those are two nice vans. You nearly make me want to wash-n-shine mine up to post too. :)

Stev, to bad yours wasn't white. Even though I'm Canadian, I do respect the 'RED WHITE and BLUE'....I could've photochopped the three together....

Dodgers 3,

What is that picture in your signature? Is that real? A minivan pulling a minivan-trailer?

Now that is a really neat idea for RV'ing. Remove the gas tank for a pottie and sink tank. You have the electrical and the suspension.

I've seen trailer beds made from pickeups, but that is rather different. PM me or send me a link on the history of how it happened.

Checj my gallery Stev. I made that trailer last summer from a dead '91 voyager. I'm now going to use my Ram Van to pull it, as its a little much for my '95 Voyager.

Find the number for Romarc Boats in Brampton I believe. He was the one that made flares and spoilers for me when I had my van shop in the 80's

Stev, I photochopped my Ram Van together with my trailer. The van has also been photochopped, as this is the direction I'll be heading with it....Brad

Now that is neat. Do you wonder what people think when they are driving behind you? They must wonder if that Caravan is driving a little to close. lol - ha-ha. I can see the OPP flashing their lights to give the guy in the Caravan a ticket. ;)

A question on the Caravan trailer. Why did you cut the front off mid-door vs. the fender/cowl area saving the windshield and firewall? Was the van in a wreck prior?

dodges 3
06-01-2006, 03:32 PM
I cut it there, because making intial cut was easier through door openings. And it was easier to get the top and bottom cuts in the same area. No, it wasn't wrecked, trans died, and I didn't care to get it fixed. And, with doing alot of home renos, and dump runs, I ended up with a useful trailer....

Also, the further forward you go the further the rear wheels are back and it makes it super heavy on the tongue. I'll have to find pictures of the Teaser when we did it back in the late 70's

That didn't take long, LOL

Ok Ram3500Dually, I'm guessing you know the answer to this question. Whats the best way to gull-wing my side door??? I'd perfer not to have any exposed hindges, like the rear door/s. Take note that there is a window in my side door.....Brad

Piano hinge welded to the top lip of the door. You will be limited in the height you can go because of the drip rail though. I will see if I can find the picture of the mini van we did.

Ok, I can see how that would work. Thanks. Would I have to refabricate the latching mechanism?? Or will it work the way that it is...

Ram3500Dually

Lock needs to be at the bottom either one on each side or one in the middle

OK then. I will be replacing my existing slider, because it has a nasty dent in it (not seen in pics), so I will use the current one as a test piece, later. I have to solve electrical problems first. Thanks for help.....Brad

I've always thought a Caravan would make a cool trailer, what with it being a dummy axle in the rear. You already have a "gull wing" in the back! LOL! How does it tow? With the axle so far back is there too much tongue weight?

stev

Denim,

To hack a van into a trailer and keep the wheels more towards center, a nice B3500 15-passenger Ram Van hacked about the left side of the barn doors would be ideal. ;)

Denim, I haven't towed it with my Ram Van yet. I towed it last fall with my '95 Voyager, and it handled OK. Its just a little heavy for the minivan to pull, especially since I don't want to trash the mini's tranny.

Here's a photochop I just did of a shortbox RamVan trailer, with my photochopped van....

Dodges3, nice photochop. I've seen vanners do that for real. What looks slick is when they graft another van rear with the doors onto the front. Stev, making a trailer out of a maxi would be the way to go. Should balance out nicely.

Thats exactly what we did with the Teezer van I posted earlier

Now that I have my electrical problems solved (have to replace ignition switch still), I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for a cheap ($300 or less) van, with barn doors, for my next trailer conversion. That way I can use my Voyager trailer for dump runs, and my future RamVan trailer for camping, and what not....

How about going "camping" in two weeks?

Thanks for info. Ram Man. I'm going to see how its been done to others at VanFest in a week. But seeing how I may put on new tires and rims, befora VanFest, I may have to rig up something for an extender, for now.

There will be gull wings and there will be lots of guys with lots of experience there. And remember I promised you a ride in the Cosmic Cruiser? I talked with Ivan last night and it looks like as of right now he is going up with us :)
