I am trying to fix my stock engine temp guage in a 1977 d200 adventurer with a 440. I cannot locate the engine temp sensor. Any help fixing this vital guage would be greatly appreciated. I can't even put in an aftermarket guage without knowing the stock location.

The sending unit for the stock temp gauge is in the front of the intake, on the passenger side. It goes into the coolant crossover passage, to the right of where the T-stat is.

It sits horizontally in the water pump housing where the alternator bracket is bolted to the housing. Look in the area where the heater hoses go to the water pump housing....you'll see it sticking out.

buy a haynes or chilton manual if you don't have one. their not the best, but, their cheap and do help a lot in a pinch. they cover a lot of basic and some extensive topics. good luck
