Great board. I've owned several Mopars including two 1969 300s, a 1970 300, 1968 Charger, 1968 Newport, and a 1971 Demon 340. Just picked up a 1977 dodge van with a 318 and overdrive 4 spd. The electric choke was missing when I got it. The previous owner had the choke plate wired open -- they didn't need it in AZ. I installed an NOS electric choke control, so I assume the unit works. I plugged it into the the only available terminal, which is on a button
like unit with two terminals mounted on the intake manifold. I started
the van and let it warm up, but the choke doesn't open over time. I
need to check power at that terminal. But my question is, does the
electric choke stay powered up the entire time that the ignition is
on, or is it wired to a circuit that cuts out when the engine reaches
operating temperature? I have the factory manual, and there is no
information about the choke control, other than it helps open the
choke faster. I can't find it on the wiring diagram either. Thank you.

Take a look in the "Emissions" section of the Service Manual and see if you find info on the Choke system.
