I've seen that before. While the GM HEI is a good design, I prefer using Mopar stuff on my Mopars. :)

Here's better way to do it, although more expensive.

yup i agree with you dodgevanman but i'm running into a rather large problem slant six parts have been discontinued by most companies that or they never offered them in they first place
speed dragon that does look better then the other method but the don't list anything for the slant six i did send them a e-mail though i guess i'll see what the response is

Are you looking to put electronic ignition on your slant six?

www.jimsautoparts.com He's a Mopar only supplier and may still have the MP kit for slant sixes in stock.

yea I have been but I haven't really done that much to my engine and most after market ignition systems are to expensive for my liking and this does look like a reasonable substatute

One thing I did on my A108 van with /6 was to buy a distributor for a like a '73 Dodge van along with the ECU, ballast resistor, cap/rotor, plugs, wires, and a harness from Summit. I think all together it cost just over $100 for everything. It's a lot cheaper than the MP kit and since it was a daily driver, I didn't need big performance.

Wait what are you trying to put this on? The Coronet? The truck? Both of those should already have electronic ignition already, 72 or 73 was the last year for points.

i'm thinking of putting this on the truck but never got and anser when i asked about weather or not it would work in my 85 ram i know i have a electronic ignition and i also have this rather large black box stuck on my left fender with 2 wiring harnesses coming out of it and if it was a waste of money no big deal it only cost 5 bucks so far

Oh yeah you have the ESA computer. I would definitely get rid of that setup. I don't see why the HEI setup wouldn't work. Do you have enough room for the large cap?

i'm not sure i can get rid of it completely but would like to and at the same time not go to the leen burn system

Doesn't your truck have a S6 in it? I don't think they make the HEI-type distributor for the 6.

Edit: Which is why you posted that first link, duh. I'm going crazy I think:crazy:I've been sick w/ a fever for 3 or 4 days, sorry:o

no i actually posted this to see if anybody has done this with any engines and how it worked for them in the non Ballast risistor rams

Oh I got ya. Honestly though, if I were you, I'd be hitting up the junkyards, looking for an older truck w/ a S6 and regular electronic ignition to rob all the stuff off of.

I pulled a engine and tranny out of a 81 ram for parts and if i remember right i took the wiring harness with it the engine parts were not that usefull as my engine has solid lifters and it had the hydrolic setup

The lifters have nothing to do with the the ignition :)

The harness would be different than an ESA truck, but, you can use the ECU and distributor on yours, you'll just have to wire them in. If I remember right it's only like 4, maybe 5 wires to wire up.
