99 caravan A/C problem?

Newbie here. Great site. The problem I'm having is with my 99 Caravan 3.0l A/C. While its idling and the A/C is on it works fine, rev it up works fine, blows ice cold air. When driving and the A/C on it makes a loud screeching noise. If you are stoped and take off the screeching comes and goes. If your are at say 65mph and turn on the A/C the screeching is extremly loud and slugging the engine, turn off A/C problem gone. What would cause this? If this helps a few months back I chewed up a serpentine belt. Replaced it and but a new v-belt on the A/C. The problem started shortly after that. Any imput would be greatly apprciated.

Sounds like a failing AC clutch, or a loose belt. So you will have to check the pulleys, AC clutch and tensioner for failure. I don't think the original problem was fixed by simply replacing the serpentine belt.
