This is from a member of the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dodgedurangoclub/ club. Enjoy!! :D

It has happened again. That is, as a previous writer mentioned, a lot of people, in my case much younger than me, pull up beside my D at a light and kind of edge me on. This continues at the next light and then the next. I don't have an R/T, but just had catback duals with a flowmaster put on my D. They hear the rumble and see the 3" beveled chrome tips and want to take this old man (50) on. Now granted my '99 SLT Plus 4X4 with the 5.2L is no screamer from the line. At almost 5,000 lbs. curb weight and the 3.55 rear end, it takes it a while to get moving. The way I have got surprised looks from young studs trying to impress their girls or whatever, is when I get to the second light I slip the D into 4 wheel low. Don't try this at home, driver is a professional on a closed course. OK, I got the TV add disclaimers out of the way. Back to the race. I know I will be going only in a straight line and I know my top speed will be about 45 to 50 mph max before redline. The kids are next to me reving up their engines, boot scootin forward a bit, doing their challenge. I sit there, pick my nose, generally act like I am ignoring them. The light turns green and my Patriot Blue D jumps off the line, the flowmaster doing some nasty talk, engine hits about 5K almost instantly, the tranny shifts to second, the 5,000 lb. behemoth lurches forward, redlined again almost instantly, shifts to third with another jump forward, before you know it, it is in fourth, I'm at the next light before it turns red, back of the throttle, again the flowmaster rumbles with authority as the D is winding down from 5K rpm's. I look in my mirror and see the youngins about halfway between lights, bright eyed and bewildered at this old fart in the big truck that just blew them away. I pray for a redlight so I can come to a full stop and get this D back up into high range. The kids catch back up with me, I look over at them and smile, they give me a thumbs up and we go our separate ways.

I am not young but love to play young. The challengers don't have to know I tricked them. The wife calms down after an hour or two and all is well and word gets out that these D's are fast.

Life is good.

That's funny... I have a Ram and my hubby has a Mitsubishi Eclipse, I'm only 23, but the high schoolers like to try to race me.. I get them flared up enough that they haul butt sometimes so bad they forget about the officer hiding at the car wash.. **GRIN** The flowmasters rock!
