Chilton's shows both 3.3/3.8 in the rear valve cover and it looks to screw in from the picture. It could pull out, too. There also seems to be a hose that runs from the front valve cover to the air filter housing and is labeled a fresh air hose, as part of the PCV system on the 02. I guess I would get the replacement from the $tealer as then I would be sure it was correct. My 99 3.3 replacement looks to slip in and isn't threaded. I got it from Advance so it may not be right (Purolator PV761). I am about to do that job myself. I think the best way to do it is to remove the wiper tray/etc and then it would make getting to the rear head much easier. You should be able to do the plugs, valve cover gaskets and PCV with it off. If I remove that part to do mine I may do a lot of the under-tray parts.

The other door/hatch problems I haven't encountered. Chilton's and the Hayne's manual I have are of no help. I would/will spend the money for the factory shop manual as I think it's better than either/both of what I have. If your local library has Motor's the info might be in there.
