Hi!

Today when i was driving my Dodge i got an error-code. The "Check Engine"-light came on. I used my cellphone to record all the blinks so i didnt miss a blink.

The car is a Dodge RAM B250 Royal Van -88, engine: 318 TBI (5.2litre).

Where can i find a error-code-list for my engine?

Here is the videoclip:

Avi 13.1mb http://media.putfile.com/ECU-33
What does the ECU say? What is wrong with my van?

OK I counted 12, 26, 33 and 55
the one to look for is 26
The others are 12 battery disconnected
26 ?
33 a/c clutch relay
55 end of codes

i´ve got the same as you. 33 is: "Air conditioning clutch relay circuit open or shorted (may be in the wide-open-throttle cutoff circuit)"

But i don´t have an AC.

26 is: "Peak injector circuit voltage has not been reached
(need to check computer signals, voltage reg, injectors)
(SEE NOTE #4 BELOW)"

And the "#4 Below" is: "During cranking, the computer will test the current through the
injector to see whether there's too much resistance in the injector's
path. If there is, code 26 is set.
The problem may be cured with tuner cleaner on the connectors.
For TBI engines, the injector's cold resistance should be between
0.9 and 1.2 ohms (specs vary with year). This is a peak-and-hold
injector. With the engine idling the
peak period should be about 1.2 milliseconds whereas the hold period
will vary. If it's lower than this at idle, then the injector's shorted or
there's a defect in the injector driver circuit. (Bohdan Bodnar)"

It has been running 100% on E85 (85% Ethanol, 15% gasoline). Maybe the E85 has loosen som dirt that may have clogged the injectors? (excuse me, my english sux, i´m from sweden)

12 is the battery, i had to jumpstart the van yesterday because the battery was drained.

Why does the check engine light only show error sometimes? is the injector only a little clogged? So it works fine sometimes and works bad sometimes?

Would my problems go away if i change the injectors?

If you have access to non-E-85 fuel, I would run a couple of tanks through and see if the 26 clears up.
Your van should not be running on that stuff unless you have made some mods to the injectors.

I have been running it on unleaded 95 for six months now. Does not help.
My manual to the car says that i can mix gasoline and Ethanol. I must increase fuelpressure so it will run better on E85.

If you were stateside, I'd say to get another injector assembly from a salvage yard.
I would ask if you tried a different injector assembly, but I am guessing junk yard supplies are few and far between as far as American makes go.
I can see where increasing fuel pressure would help to run E-85. Do you have an adjustable regulator on it?
It might not hurt to post in the same generation of pickups too.

Ok, do you want to run you pick-up on E85 too? =) I have not tried another injector yet but i have ordered 2 new injectors from a guy who are selling injectors. He want´s 20$ for them and they are used. I have not installed a adjustable regulator yet but that is my plan =)

Is the idle adjustable on my Dodge? Because i feels that i´m beeing rearended almost everytime i put in Drive.

The same generations of pick-ups, is it the D250´s then?

Hi!

I have replaced the injectors now. And there is no difference. The engine is still running bad =(

I have done compressiontest and the results were:

* 9.8 bar was the highest result
* 8.5 bar was the lowest result

The manual said that it could be a 10% difference, and that difference is accepted. It is good results.

The sparkplugs look like this:

The white color indicates to "lean mixture" right?
The fuelfilter has not been replaced for 6 months, sinse i stopped running the engine on Ethanol. When i changed it 6 months ago, the engine was running lean, just like it does now. The fuel-filter change did only improve the performance by 2%. The fuelpump is new. What could cause the engine to run lean? What is malfunctioning?

A bad coolant temp sensor or a bad O2 sensor could cause the engine to run lean.

What does the "bold" text mean?

Code 33: "Air conditioning clutch relay circuit open or shorted (may be in the wide-open-throttle cutoff circuit)"

Why do i get this code? I don´t even got a A/C-system.

Why don´t i get codes about O2-sensor or coolant temp-sensor? Is my ECU broken? Is there any problem with the injector-wiring?

Too much resistance could be a physical problem in the wiring somewhere....like maybe the wire is broken in some spots and there's only a few strands of wire carrying the load.

Defect in the driver circuit would be an ECM problem.

Ignore the code 33. Since it's obviously a "dummy" code.

How do i find the injectorwiring? So i can check all the way from the ECU to the injector..

I'll try and get a schematic posted for you this evening.
