Hi all. Has anyone changed the transaxle seals (driverside) on the 4 speeds. A week ago I changed the drive axle, and didn't notice the seal was shot. So for a week I've been spreading trans. fluid all around town. I now have it all apart, again, the seal is out, just waiting for a ride. What I want to know is, there's a diff. bearing retainer (a cupped washer) , and my haynes says that you seat the seal in this retainer, although the retainer is very thin metal. I distorted it removing seal. The parts guy didn't show such a piece, and there's no way that you could punch the seal into it without distorting it aswell. So, does anybody know anything about this. (1995 Plymouth Voyager with 3.3 4 spd) Thanks in advance.......Brad :D

i changed the axle seals at the differential a few years ago
No problems if my fading memory serves me well; i pulled the shafts, pulled out the old seals and use a seal driver to install the new ones
do not pull both half shafts out at the same time - do one side and then the other

Update, van shifts excellent. All leaks that I addressed are gone, but it seems to being dripping from the bottom of the torque converter shroud. Should I expect a cracked converter, or is there a seal in there that might be shot?? I'm guessing either way, will involve removal of transaxle....Brad
